Once upon a time,
Hails began to rhyme.
It's 1945 in review.
Let's learn something new.

There once was a girl named Ella
who once met some real nice fellas.
They sang a stellar song
I often sang along.

Roosevelt can't hear it.
He's here only in spirit.
This president made our society active.
Did I mention he was quite attractive?

A while before,
some guys had a chore
to talk about the war.
Sounds like a bore.

Fighting Hitler, the Nazi leader,
Roosevelt passed away.
Soon after, Hitler also died.
Although, not many cried.

The bombs were dropped
and a country was rocked.
A picture was taken
in a celebratory nation.

Many things happened
with lasting damage.
1945 was intense
with wartime defense.
